Tornado and storm damage how to help

Postby Parks » Sat Mar 03, 2012 11:15 am

Many areas across the state were devastated by the tornadoes and storms yesterday. London, West Liberty just to name a few. Here is how you can help right now... text "Red Cross" to 90999 to donate $10 to relief efforts across Kentucky.” The $10 will be billed to your cell phone account.

The choice to make a donation, or not, is yours to make. And who you donate to is your own choice. There are scams in just about anything, from donating gift cards to fire victims to churches during catastrophes. Do what you want or don't do at all. Sorry I made the post and wish there was a delete button.

If you want to donate to a worthy and honorable organization give to the Salvation Army... That way the people will get some benefit from it... Either that or send a donation in a tornado victims name to the Obama re-election campaign...

A tornado cut a large path through a neighborhood outside of London. From the highway you could see the path it took by the destroyed homes, and the mobile home that had the walls ripped off by the wind and then thrown up the hill against the guardrail.

I have family and friends that "lived" in the area you described until the tornado wiped them out yesterday. One of the families lost their home place where their family had lived for generations. They said they are lucky compared to others in the area because they didn't lose anyone, only their properties.

I'm certainly not against donating to help people in need, I am however opposed to donating to an organization that uses donations to pay salaries of up to a million dollars to a CEO and use the rest to advertise for more donations, and the people they front to get the donations never get any benefit... If you intend to donate, just send it where it will do the victims some good not some son of a bitch in a corporate headquarters in another country... You can be generous, or you can be generous and smart... One does not necessarily cancel out the other...

We got lucky that none of the storms we had produced funnel clouds.

I've heard from people who've worked in the organization echo exactly what Joe is saying. I've been told from a good source that everything you give goes to Cincinnati and that there are 8 to 10 cities that get almost all the monies from the Red Cross donations, so as Joe said be generous and smart....they are not mutually exclusive....

Well, eastern Kentucky made the national news after Friday's devastating tornadoes. Unfortunately, of all the videos uploaded to the world wide web, the new media has focused in an some stupid hillbilly woman, speaking in tongues with a speech impediment, claiming to be praying away the funnel cloud (before touchdown) in West Liberty, KY. What a damn idiot!
