You all need to be bringing every voice you can to Frankfort to keep expanding Medicaid. Obamacare is the only hope Eastern Ky. has to get HIV and HepC treated. Take that away there's no hope.
Obamacare isn't a fix all Cate nor is it our only hope. Obamacare acts like a Ponzi scheme. You have to have healthy new members signing up to pay for the older unhealthy members. Medicaid was find as is. It just needed to be tweaked to increase the income level of those eligible.
We need for law enforcement to start cracking down on dealers, and not out being paper servers. I had a ex junkie tell me that when Marvin J was in his first term in office that he had to hunt 24/7 to find his fix. It was part of the reason he checked himself into the psych ward to detox.
It may surprise you to learn that healthy insured members paying for unhealthy insured members is exactly how traditional health insurance works. The difference with Obamacare is those providing the coverage must spend no less than 80% of their premium income on delivering direct medical care to it's insured members. The federal government provides subsidies for people that can't afford those premiums. People that can afford health insurance, don't need to be subsidized.
Suppose you tell me how people with HIV and Hep C will afford treatment to thwart an epidemic in Eastern Ky without the 90% of federal dollars contributed to their Medicaid coverage? Is Ky so rich it has funds to provide treatment for them? So rich that it can affird to subsidize people that can't afford their health coverage premiums?
Already tour Republican Governor has cut funds for drug abuse rehabilitation. So where's the big effort to bust meth labs and stop illegal opioid distribution?
