Otis got paid selling the building. It got gutted by out of town students from different colleges.

Then you should by a building and go to work. I'm all for revitalizing also, but not for tax payer money used to do it and then give it to somebody for political payback and let them run some business that wont succeed and file bankruptcy in 5 years. If you think you can make it work then you need some skin in game don't use taxpayer money to do it.

The article in the paper regarding the ARC grant made me chuckle. One of the trades to be taught is "mitigation of asbestos". I would hate to know how much asbestos those students who came here from other colleges were breathing while gutting the Belks building.

They want them to get asbestos training so they can remove it from the other shit hole buildings downtown for a nice fat tax credit.
