You know I'm right. Extreme Vetting, (an Obama policy continued by Trump) has cut immigration from those countries in half. Trumps revised policy excludes religion as a consideration. The only thing changed is the narrative calling Trumps EO a win. Nothing else.

Wrong!!! The difference is that it stops all foreign nations from entering the country unless they can prove a close relationship to a person or entity.

Oh and they wasn't cut in half during the Obama administration. Hillary even said she would allow more of them.

I'm wrong? Define 'a close relationship to a person or entity' and tell me how that changes any immigration policy not not already being practiced today?

SCOTUS staying the temporary Trumps modified second EO ban, does not affect any country other than the six mentioned Yemen, Sudan, Somalia, Syria, Iran and Libya. And only new visa applications from those countries ordinarily granted for visitation or diversity purposes.

Any refugee wanting to come to the U.S. and those with U.S. connections getting passed 'extreme vetting' process in place since 2012, would effectively be exempt from the 50,000-refugee cap ban Trump sought to impose.

So tell me again exactly how I'm wrong to claim this SCOTUS stay changes nothing. It only gives the Trump and the Republican Party the opportunity to change the narrative to spin it as Administration 'win'.

There is one change the SCOTUS stay makes. It enforces the 90 day time period for the Administration to document an immigration policy, that comports with the creators of our Constitution proclamation of the people's right to practice their faith of their choice without persecution.

So your saying the 200,000 "refugees" Obama allowed between 2013 and 2015 had a close relationship with someone in the U.S.?? Your splitting hairs Cate. It's against everything in you to say that this is different than what was previously happening lol.

The SCOTUS stay exempted the 50,000 refugees previously authorized for entry. The ultimate authority to increase or decrease the number of refugees that will be allowed entry is a matter for Congress.

Trump has not changed anything in the refugee vetting policy of the Obama Administration. Our country wasn't admitting refugees from countries that could not or would not cooperate with background verification investigations under the Obama Administration, as with the Trump Administration. Nothing has changed the status quo. Not Trump's or Clinton's campaign promises to decrease or increase the number of authorized refugee entries. Nothing changed. Just the hype.

Different in what way?

50,000 annual refugee authorizations x 4 years (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016) totals 200,000 refugee authorizations.

How did the SCOTUS stay make any change with the number of refugees authorized for entry into the U.S.(expand or decrease that annual number)? What did the SCOTUS stay do to change any immigration policy not in place when Obama left office?

Obama's EO restricting refugees from the six noted countries has already limited and slowed refugees entry from those countries unable or unwilling to coorperate with background investigations.

The only change is the Trump Administration now has 90 days to document the effectiveness of the current vetting refugee policy, and propose any change that would make it more effective. As far as I can tell, that's it.

It would be better if you explain how the SCOTUS stay changes U.S. Immigration policy currently in place, rather than offer your political opinion on my Party loyalty.

It's an executive order reinforced by the Supreme Court, so who ever sent out the directive should be fired.
