I'll second that. Kentucky has that requirement in place but I'm not sure it's enforced. President Obama removed it from being a requirement.

13 Alabama counties saw a 85% drop in food stamp participants after the state installed the word requirements.

As of Jan. 1, 2017, there were 13,663 able-bodied adults without dependents receiving food stamps statewide. That number dropped to 7,483 by May 1, 2017. Among the 13 counties, there were 5,538 adults ages 18-50 without dependents receiving food stamps as of Jan. 1, 2017. That number dropped to 831 - a decline of about 85 percent - by May 1, 2017.

When I lived in Hazard their was a store that took food stamps for everything they carried. I always wondered why this "grocery store" had clothes, tools, toys, etc, etc. That is till they got caught.

Market analyst are saying Amazon will close 20% to 25% of the brick and mortar stores stores within the next 5 years. I believe they're right.

9 out of 10 of my shopping trips to a brick and mortar place for the past six years, is either for some kind of 'fix it' hardware, lumber or gardening supply, paint or fresh food. Almost every other kind of shopping i.e., clothes, clothing accessories, shoes, big and small appliances, pet supplies, household goods, computer, electronic devices and accessories, big ticket construction material, automotive parts, even tools I buy online.

On line shopping from central warehouses makes sense for saving money and time in the short term. I'm not convinced it's best long term.

The more dependent society becomes on centralized convenience, the more easily it will become for that centralization to be majorly disrupted. Being able to access something you need, as opposed to something you want is critical to survival. And the best reason to keep small businesses alive that can meet those needs if and when centralized networks ever fail.

I like to buy local if possible. The shipping in most cases cancels out the cheap price.
